The best I could anyways but she loves her babies,

 the dog and various other toys too so like I said, she kinda knows but doesn't fully understand the depth of the word. I think it becomes more of a habit than anything. My parents rarely said it to me growing up but I never once doubted or wished they would've. I say it to my 4 yr old daughter all the time and I used to my son as well but he's 13 now and it's mutually understood we don't need to say it.
